About Hannah...

Hannah Jones, M.Ed., ALC

(Under the supervision of Heather Parker)

Pursuing a career in counseling has been about engaging my own story and the struggles I have faced, as well as creating a safe space for others to do the same.  When friends and family ask what drew me to this profession my responses come easily.  First, I want to meet people wherever they are.  Too often we tell ourselves that we must show up in a way that is “expected” or “appropriate” rather than believing we can have the freedom and agency to be authentic in our brokenness.   Just as I want to practice authenticity in my own life, I want to invite my clients to that as well.   I am also passionate about being with people of all ages who are searching to find their voice - and to know how to use that voice in a healthy capacity.  Finally, I believe it is such an honor to walk with others as they explore the bridge between despair and hope which can be a lonely path when attempted alone.

I enjoy being with a wide variety of clients including - but certainly not limited to - children, adolescents, trauma survivors, and to those seeking pre-marital or pre-engagement counseling.  I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University and am currently in the final steps of completing my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Montevallo upon which time I will pursue licensure.  As a Certified IASIS Practitioner (https://microcurrentneurofeedback.com/), I also provide IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback (MCN) for our clients at Waterstone Counseling & Consulting.  Currently, I am completing the requirements to be a Registered Play Therapist and believe this training will be extremely beneficial as I engage with children in a therapeutic environment.  Working with others to explore daily and toxic stress is something I believe to be very relevant and important in addressing mental health.  This led me to complete a Stress Management Coaching Certificate through Light University and the American Association of Christian Counselors.  I am also a Certified PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator, have earned my certificate in QPR Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention in 2021, and am a Certified SABRE Personal Safety Instructor.

Outside of work and school, if I am not spending time with family and friends, I am most often, reading, journaling, hiking, kickboxing or exploring my world behind the lens of a camera.
